Dan's DevLog - October 2023
Hey everyone! Today we're going to be talking about what I've been up to over the last few months since Luck be a Landlord's mobile launch! Let's dive into it!
Burnout
I've honestly been pretty burnt out lately. Thankfully, my lack of motivation came at a decent time with October and November being extremely packed with game releases, so any updates I made for Luck be a Landlord would likely be overshadowed by other titles. There's also only a few more things on my to-do list for LBAL, so I hope to have them done some time early next year.
I've also tossed around some ideas for my next game, but nothing's really stuck in a way that I'm satisfied with. I don't want to force it since that will result in me making a worse game.
My Top 10 Games of 2023?
I've been assembling my list of games for my eventual Top 10 Games of 2023 writeup, like the one I did last year for 2022. I've currently got a tentative list, but there's still a good chunk of games I'd like to play before I finalize the list. Those currently being (in no particular order):
- Pocket Mirror ~ GoldenerTraum
- Little Goody Two Shoes
- Worldless
- Thirsty Suitors
- Eternights
- Cassette Beasts
- Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate
- HUMANITY
- Tokyo Pinball
All of these games could easily land a spot in my top 10, especially since a game I played just a few weeks ago rocketed towards my #1 spot after I finished it...I can't wait to write more about it!
Bluesky is nice
I'm on Bluesky now. I like it a lot more than Twitter at the moment (for obvious reasons). Not much more to say about that, feel free to follow me on there if you can!
Wikipedia and Metacritic
Luck be a Landlord has a Wikipedia page now, that's pretty cool! It's rad to see something I've worked on for so long be "archived" so to speak. It also technically has a Metacritic score (for the mobile version), which I feel weird about since I have many issues with Metacritic both concept-wise and execution-wise. But hey, it's there if you want to look at it.
That's all for now, see you next DevLog!
